• Barracks Row - 8th Street SE / WASHINGTON, DC

Lee and Associates worked with the Barracks Row Main Street Design Committee and the Capitol Hill community to develop conceptual streetscape designs that met the concerns of local merchants and residents. Community outreach helped the Lee and Associates team to create a comprehensive palette of treatments. The streetscape features the first application of the low impact stormwater management design in the District; new site furnishings; cobblestone alleys; and a Barracks Row Heritage Trail, created in coordination with the DC Heritage Tourism Coalition—all to enhance the historic commercial environment, and achieve local revitalization goals. This project won the Great American Main Street award from National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2005.
