Landscape architecture has always been a discipline of pressing need, situating itself at the “in-between” and fusing together information and research from every profession. The evolution of landscape architecture over the last few decades has been revealed through the evolution of our projects. We explore the relationship between the natural and the built environment.

Streetscape beautification projects have evolved into redefining the urban infrastructure of entire neighborhoods, combining natural and man-made technologies to capture and treat stormwater runoff before it pollutes our watershed. Green roofs have become highly-designed garden spaces that accommodate people in ecologically-responsive landscapes where the water is collected, stored and reused. As we move forward, everything is connected. From the smallest of parks and rain gardens, to large green infrastructure projects and even new cities that emerge as living laboratories for renewable energy and sustainable technologies, all scales of design are linked together to meet the present day challenges for a better tomorrow.

We have always embodied the design process as a place for exploring the potential of a site, for engaging in open dialogue, for melding current thought with ground-breaking research, for fusing past with future, and for learning to meet the needs of a shifting landscape. Change is inevitable, but our ideologies about design remain firmly-rooted. Landscape architecture is a necessity. There is beauty in the uniqueness of our position, in the bringing together of so many influences from different bodies of knowledge. We respect and embrace the power of collaboration with professionals from many diverse background and points-of-view to rethink and renew our own perspective to each important task.
