Jim Laychak and Rosemary Dillard, Directors of the Pentagon Memorial Fund and family members of victims lost when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, are pictured on the right presenting a check to fund design work on the Pentagon Memorial. Accepting the check on behalf of the Pentagon Renovation and Construction Program Office is Ken Catlow, Acting Director, and Jean Barnak, Project Manager. Jill Dowling, Lee and Associates' Director of Cultural Resources, concept designer Julie Beckman, and Mark Konchar of Centex Lee (left to right) were on hand to celebrate this important milestone. Research and Development and site preparation studies began in 2003, and new funds will advance the Memorial Park design to Concept Level plus. Delon Hampton & Associates, Syska Hennessy Group, CMS Collaborative, and the Low Impact Development Center are set to begin work in February. The Pentagon Memorial Fund officially began their fund raising campaign in April, 2004 and has raised nearly 5 million dollars to date.
