Stead Park is a community park located on P Street in the Historic Dupont Circle area. The highly utilized park consists of a recreation center, a full size basketball court, an underutilized half court and a newly renovated grass ball field. Other major concerns with the park include overgrown sparse planting areas, uninviting entrances and a poor surface drainage system.

Lee + Papa and Associates is currently completing construction for the renovation of this community hub for the DC Department of Parks and Recreation. The upgrades include a 2-5 playground, a 6-12 playground with climbing walls, an open turf multi-use plaza with seat walls, and rain gardens that connect to an upgraded stormwater system. The main entrance has been redesigned to open up the park to the street and draw people in. The entrance improvements include a wider staircase and street side landing area along with a new handicap accessible ramp. The entrance is backdropped with low maintenance native planting beds that extend into the park accenting corners and transition zones.
