| Tyson's Corner / Fairfax County, VA Tysons Corner, Virginia, an edge city located west of Washington DC, is one of the largest commercial centers on the east coast. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Dulles Corridor Rapid Rail Project proposes locating six transit stations along this segment of the rail line. Fairfax County will increase the floor-to-area ratio for properties within the transit impact zone to catalyze development. As part of the Dulles Corridor Rapid Rail Study, Lee + Papa and Associates undertook urban design studies investigating ways to integrate the stations into existing and proposed development projects. The Tysons Corner urban design study considers site plan issues such as building locations, massing, setbacks, and pedestrian connections. Diagrams produced for each transit station location as part of the study will guide further discussions with private landowners, WMATA, and planning officials. |
