Katharine Mitchell / Katharine coordinates our firm’s marketing, from proposal preparation and presentation to event planning and implementation.Before working with Lee+Papa, Katharine was an assistant to the Executive Director of Hudsonia, Ltd., an environmental non-profit in Red Hook, New York. Born in Connecticut and now a resident of Virginia, Katharine has also lived in California, Malaysia and Indonesia (from Sumatra to New Guinea). She is a graduate of the International School of Kuala Lumpur and Bard College where she earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies. Her senior thesis examined various community perceptions of the Hudson River estuary and its environs, focusing on the aesthetic visual impacts of a proposed waterfront development (Hudson Landing) in Kingston, New York. Her research in landscape aesthetics, the Hudson River School (a nineteenth century group of Romantic landscape painters) and Hudson Valley regional history also led to case studies in landscape architecture. She has studied and had practical experience in community economic development, ecological anthropology and environmental policy as well as East and Southeast Asian studies. She speaks Mandarin and some Indonesian/Malay and spent a summer in China studying language and culture at Qingdao University under the Freeman Grant. Her work with Habitat for Humanity took her to India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. |
