Urban design is, by its nature, a public process. Much of our work is in the public realm and each project is analyzed to understand what makes the site authentic and then is weaved into its broader surroundings, remembering the importance of public streets and spaces. In this process, we choose to rely on the collective memory of a place rather than force new or inappropriate design images. Most of our projects involve a public participation process that we organize and staff.

Our designs are real rather than frivolous. We have no preconceived ideas or design style. We are inspired by history, context and appropriateness.
