Congratulations! New Senior Associate for LAI
LAI is pleased and proud to announce the promotion of Annie Varma, RLA, ASLA, LEED Green Associate, Senior Associate to the position of Senior Associate. For nearly a decade, Annie has been a valuable contributor and a leader to the profession and the firm. Her project experience includes large-scale master planning; urban in-fill mixed-use projects; and education and recreational projects in the public realm. Her background in architecture and landscape architecture informs her views in exploring the interface of the built and the natural environment and in bringing creative place making perspectives and ideas to fruition.
Her recent projects include: The Highline Building and Park at Union Market in Washington, DC; The Potomac School Athletic Center in McLean, Virginia; The Aperture in Reston, Virginia; The Vio and Incanto at The Wharf in Washington, DC; and a unique pedestrian park/plaza for the mixed-use Trang An Complex in Hanoi, Vietnam. Annie earned a master of landscape architecture with a minor in cultural heritage and museum practices from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor of science in architecture from BIT Mesra. She has worked in diversified landscape architecture, historic preservation, and architecture & planning firms in the past and brings the knowledge of heritage conservation and waterfront design based on her graduate study. She has published her work twice and actively pursues and researches green and sustainable initiatives, in both her urban design projects and professional development pursuits. She is a registered landscape architect in Virginia and has served as the Public Awareness Chair on the Executive Committee of the Potomac Chapter of ASLA.
