Potomac School Athletic Center
The 76,500 square foot Center for Athletics and Community at The Potomac School consolidates and expands its current athletic and recreational offerings on campus by way of a new, spacious, sustainable building. Lee and Associates, Inc. (LAI) worked with the project team and client to site the new building and to detail the landscape for integration into the existing campus. Site enhancements reinforce the building program and provide indoor / outdoor connections and activity spaces. The new facility supports robust athletic programming and supplies the school with adequate indoor gathering space to accommodate the entire Potomac School community. A plaza at the north end of the New Athletic Center links the vehicular drop-off to the main upper entrance. After events, outdoor seating and gathering space becomes spill out space for students waiting for pick-up. The design incorporates connections to the tennis center and to the soccer field to the east, and maintains a large lawn space to the north for tented events and for future construction of a tennis viewing area.
